Delegate repeatable work before vague responsibility
Good first assignments have a clear input, definition of done and repeatable process. Inbox triage, scheduling, research, data cleanup and routine follow-up are easier to delegate than an undefined instruction to “help run the business.”

Write the task as a simple operating procedure
Document where the work starts, which tools are used, what the assistant can decide and what must be escalated. Include a correct example and the most common exceptions.
Protect sensitive systems with appropriate access
Use separate accounts, roles or delegated access where supported instead of sharing a master password. Financial transfers, security settings and legal approvals need tighter control than routine administration.
Measure whether delegation is working
Track turnaround, errors, clarification requests and the management time you still spend. If a task needs constant rescue, improve the procedure or reconsider who owns it before expanding the scope.
